As a registered nurse for more than 10 years, most recently as part of a crisis mental health hospital team, I know how important mental health is to wellbeing. I also know it’s not always easy to achieve.
Unlike a physical ailment, a pill won’t cure stress or anxiety, or teach you how to reset your thoughts and behaviours to be able to live a healthier, happier life. What does make it easier though is being able to talk through issues with a trained ‘talk therapist’. I’ve seen the incredibly positive steps people have taken after working with a therapist and it spurred me into gaining the qualifications to be able to offer this therapy to others.
I work with people who might be struggling with depression, anxiety, stress or low mood, who have sleep issues or who are trying to cope with challenging work or family relationships. In many situations, the root cause of the issue is the relationship we have with ourselves. Many people I see have lost touch with themselves or their purpose and, as a result, have lost the confidence and motivation to go after what they really want in life.
That’s why I called my clinic Authentically U – to celebrate the individuality in each one of us. We all have issues and imperfections, curves and edges, and that’s what makes us interesting, unique and human. Through therapy sessions, I work with you to explore who you are and treasure the awesome traits you have – with all your curves and edges thrown into the mix! I encourage you to own them, gain strength from them and let them be your inspiration as you move towards that life you really want. You won’t get there unless you totally accept and respect yourself.
I offer a friendly, calm and nurturing space in which to talk, and with my clinical background I bring a pragmatic and practical approach to sessions. I will be straight up and challenge you when appropriate, but will respect your privacy when you don’t want to share your thoughts. I’m solutions focused which means the personalised treatment plan we create together will provide you with the tools and skills you need to continue nurturing your mental health and wellbeing long after our sessions have finished.

I have a Bachelor of Nursing; Postgraduate Certificate in Mental Health and Addiction Nursing; and Postgraduate Certificate in Health Science – clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning, clinical supervision and cognitive behavioural therapy.
